From the moment i found out i was pregnant, i pictured myself having a baby boy, i was so convinced of this that i even started jotting down a list of baby boy names only. My husband really liked the name Declan, but I had never heard it before, and i was worried i wouldn’t be able to pronounce it correctly since i have an accent; therefore, we decided to play the movie “The Jackal,” where Richard Gere (my long-time crush) plays the role of an Irish Army sniper whose name is Declan Mulqueen.
We were almost half-way through the movie, and suddenly, out of the blue, he said, how do you like the name Violet? I pondered for a second and said: “I like it, it’s cute…maybe for our next child,” and then felt like something kicked me from inside. I thought i was going crazy, my baby was barely the size of a cranberry bean at the time, so nah, it wasn’t the baby, it was probably just gas 🙂
Few weeks later, i was blessed to find out it was a little girl; my sweet Violet has made me the luckiest, happiest and most grateful person on the planet. This post is dedicated to her, to Violet, and everything that her name inspires.
